Free Park Rx Day Celebration Scheduled Sunday in Richmond

WHAT: Enjoy bicycling, seed planting, guided park walks and low-impact exercise Sunday during National Park Rx Day at John F. Kennedy Park in Richmond.
WHO: Everyone is welcome to attend this free event sponsored by the Richmond Community Services Department, Contra Costa Health Services and the National Park Service.
WHEN: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23
WHERE: John F. Kennedy Park is at the corner of Cutting Boulevard and South 41st Street in Richmond.
WHY: National Park Rx Day celebrates the health benefits of parks. Getting outside on a regular basis – to walk, play or just relax – helps to reduce the risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, depression and many other health concerns.
Join us Sunday in Richmond for family activities, including a bike rodeo, obstacle course, seed planting and physician-led park walks. Learn tips to improve your health and wellbeing, receive free health screenings and participate in low-impact exercises, including tai chi. .
Richmond’s second annual Park Rx Day is one of several organized by Healthy Parks, Healthy People, a collaborative of more than 30 park, health and community-based organizations advocating use of parks and public land to improve the health of Bay Area residents, particularly those with high health needs.
