Information on Health Care Resources for West Contra Costa County Residents

Monday, April 20, 2015

WHAT

Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) and its partners have developed a resource list to provide the community information on health care resources in West Contra Costa after Doctors Medical Center San Pablo closes on April 21. The resource list provides information about urgent care centers, including new services starting today at Lifelong Medical Care in San Pablo, as well as other health centers, clinics and a free advice nurse line.

CCHS is urging anyone without health insurance to call the county's free Advice Nurse Line (1-877-661-6230, option 1) for nonlife-threatening conditions. The line is available to anyone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The advice nurses can help people decide whether they need to seek emergency, urgent or next-day care, and where to get care. Anyone experiencing a life-threatening medical or psychiatric emergency should call 9-1-1 immediately.

WHY:

This resource list will help people find urgent care and other types of health services in West Contra Costa or free medical advice by phone to help them decide what kind of care they need.

WHERE:

The resource list is being distributed throughout the community. A more comprehensive, 2-page version and a 1-page version of the resource list are available in English and Spanish (other languages will be added soon) on Contra Costa Health Services' website. For more information, visit www.cchealth.org. For formation on the new Lifelong Urgent Care Center, visit www.lifelongmedical.org or call 510-231-9800.
