One-Day Event in Richmond Offers Services to Homeless Contra Costa Residents

Project Homeless Connect is an annual, all-day event that connects homeless residents from across Contra Costa County to many services in one location. The event is intended to help those experiencing homelessness toward self-sufficiency by making it easier to access or enroll in services they need.

Public agencies and community partners will supply food, medical care, legal services, haircuts, pet care, shelter, applications for state identification cards and many other services.


The Behavioral Health Services Division of Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS), community-based organizations and hundreds of volunteers are partnering with local elected officials to deliver these critical services.

Project Homeless Connect 2014 is sponsored by CCHS, the City of Richmond and Chevron U.S.A., Inc.


9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014.


Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond.


Thousands of people experience homelessness every night in Contra Costa County. Previous Project Homeless Connect events have served more than 1,000 people in one day, providing critical services and promoting good health for the entire community.


Elected officials and their representatives are scheduled to speak to volunteers and service providers at an 8 a.m. setup meeting in the auditorium.

Lavonna Martin, director of the CCHS Homeless Program, will be available throughout the day for interviews.
