Free Respiratory Rally in San Pablo Offers Tips for Living with Lung Disease

WHAT:
Contra Costa Health Services and the American Lung Association of California have organized a free Respiratory Rally that features medical experts and motivational presenters to help attendees manage lung disease and improve their quality of life.
Sessions cover a variety of topics, including a patient panel on pulmonary rehabilitation, demonstrations of respiratory devices, oxygen therapy and discussion of local resources for people with lung disease, such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis.
Organizers will also offer sign-ups for a new Better Breathers Club in the San Pablo area. This support group will meet monthly to provide patient-centered and community based education and peer support to people with chronic lung disease.
A healthy lunch and a morning snack will be provided, and there will be a raffle.
WHO:
Any adults living with asthma, emphysema or chronic bronchitis – collectively known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) – are encouraged to attend, as well as their family members and caregivers.
WHEN:
Friday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

City of San Pablo’s Maple Hall, 13831 San Pablo Ave., Building 4.
WHY:
Thousands of Contra Costa County residents suffer from lung disease. The Respiratory Rally is intended to provide training and assistance to help those with lung disease manage their conditions and live longer, healthier lives. The Respiratory Rally is a one-day, inspirational and educational event to help people living with advanced lung disease, and is also the kick-off event for a new Better Breathers Club in the San Pablo area.
