Volunteers Needed to Help Count the Homeless

What:

Contra Costa Health Services' Homeless Program is seeking volunteer drivers and counters to help count the homeless. An accurate count will help Contra Costa understand trend changes among the homeless population and will ensure the county gets its fair share of funding for homeless services.

Volunteers must attend a one-hour training. The Count takes about three hours for a total of four hours volunteered.

When:

Deadline to sign up is January 18, 2011.

The Count will take place Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 6 to 8:30 a.m.

Mandatory training dates will take place as follows:

January 19, 12:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 2369 Barrett Avenue in Richmond

January 20, 12:30 p.m. at Impact Church, 390 W. Country Club Dr. Ste. B in Brentwood

January 20, 6 p.m. or January 21, 12:30 p.m. at Vineyard Community Center, 1970 Grant Street in Concord

Where:

Volunteers will report to various East, West and Central Contra Costa County locations.
