Community Forum on Environmental Justice Issues Planned May 28 in Bay Point

What:
A community forum about environmental justice concerns in Bay Point, including water quality, transportation issues, air quality, illegal dumping and other issues. Childcare and food will be provided free.
When:
Wednesday, May 28, 6 to 8 p.m.
Who:
A coalition of community groups in Eastern Contra Costa County have banded together to work on environmental justice issues. The forum is presented by that group, the East County Environmental Justice Collaborative, composed of the following: the Bay Point Family Health Center, Bay Point Partnership, CCISCO, Center for Human Development, Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) Public Health Division, La Clínica de la Raza and Todos Unidos. Funding is provided by the San Francisco Foundation and catering by Flamingo's Mexican Food.

Why:
"Many people in Bay Point may have questions about issues like the quality of their water and the safety of truck routes through their neighborhood," said Roxanne Carrillo, Manager of the Healthy Neighborhoods Project for CCHS. "A youth group funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has surveyed the community, and sets of resident teams have been exploring environmental justice issues specific to Bay Point. Both will present their findings at the forum."
