What

The public is invited to a public forum to provide comments, concerns and ideas on how federal funds should be spent in Contra Costa County for support services to people living with HIV/AIDS Written comments can also be submitted. All comments will be reviewed in the annual priority setting and funding allocation process. This is an opportunity for the community to share their ideas about how best to deliver services to support access to care.

Who

The Contra Costa HIV/AIDS Consortium is soliciting community comments. The Consortium is a local planning body that includes Contra Costa Health Services, HIV/AIDS service providers, HIV prevention providers, people living with HIV/AIDS and concerned community members.

When and Where

There are two ways to give public comment:

1. Written comments are due on Wednesday, June 21. Send comments to the Consortium by fax 925-313-6798, by email rchoi@hsd.cccounty.us, or by mail 597 Center Avenue, Suite 200, Martinez, CA 94553.
2. Verbal comments are heard during the Consortium meeting on Monday, July 10, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. This will be held at Chapman University in Concord 2600 Stanwell Drive, Room 3.

Why

The Consortium will review public comments along with other information to finalize recommendations that will be forwarded to Public Health Department regarding priorities for the Ryan White CARE Act funding for the new program year that begins in March 2007. Because the Ryan White CARE Act has not been reauthorized, proposed recommendations will be subject to revisions to the act.
