Public Comments about Accidental Release Prevention Reports Due by March 13

What:

The public has 45 days to make comments on two types of Accidental Release Prevention reports issued last week about area chemical plants and refineries. These Risk Management Plans (RMP) or Preliminary Audit Findings (PAF) are required by state or county law from nine industrial facilities, six water treatment plants and an aquatic park in Contra Costa County.

Where:

The reports are available for review at the Contra Costa Health Services Hazardous Materials Programs Office located at 4333 Pacheco Blvd. in Martinez. Call 925-646-2286 to schedule an appointment.

The reports may also be reviewed at the libraries listed below.

ConocoPhillips Refinery RMP Rodeo and Crockett Libraries
Dow Chemical PAF Pittsburg Library
General Chemical Bay Point Works PAF Bay Point Library
Martinez City Water Treatment Plant PAF Martinez Library

Reports about the San Ramon Olympic Pool and Aquatic Park, the Bollman Water Treatment Plant in Concord and East Bay Municipal Utilities District water treatment plants in El Sobrante, Lafayette, Orinda and Walnut Creek are all currently under review and are available at the Hazardous Materials Program Office, 4333 Pacheco Blvd.

Why:

These reports are required of companies handling regulated chemicals by the Callifornia Accidental Release Prevention Program and Contra Costa County's Industrial Safety Ordinance.

When:

Comments must be postmarked no later than March 13.
