Community forum Jan. 31 about safety of Bay Point chemical plant

What

A community forum titled "Is the General Chemical Plant in Bay Point as safe as it should be?" A series of inspections called Safety Audits have been done at the plant by Contra Costa Health Services' Hazardous Materials Programs, as required by the county Industrial Safety Ordinance. The results of these Safety Audits will be discussed.

When

Tuesday, January 31, 7-9 p.m.

Who

The forum is hosted by Contra Costa Health Services' Hazardous Materials Programs and the Bay Point Municipal Advisory Council, with opening remarks by Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover. The public is invited to attend and ask questions.

Where

The forum is at Calvary Temple, 4725 Evora Road at the corner of Driftwood Drive in Willow Pass between Concord and Bay Point.

Why

"Our Safety Audits have uncovered some problems at the plant that are being corrected," said Randy Sawyer, Hazardous Materials Program.
