Advisory on CAER Preparedness Grants

What:
Grants for up to $2,500 are available to businesses, agencies, schools and organizations to conduct an emergency preparedness drill or exercise. The drill must have a stated list of objectives that exclusively addresses Contra Costa County.
Who:
The grants are offered by Contra Costa County CAER (Community Awareness and Emergency Response) Group, a partnership between local industry and Contra Costa Health Services' Hazardous Materials Programs
Where:
Applications are available online at www.cococaer.org or at the CAER office, 1330 Arnold Drive, #246, Martinez. More information about the grant program is also available by calling 925-313-9296 or toll-free within Contra Costa at 1-888-972-2237.
When:
The application must be submitted to the CAER office by February 15. It may also be faxed to 925-313-9176.
How:
Applications will be judged on the degree of benefit to Contra Costa County, the applicant's needs and the involvement of multiple organizations.
Why:
"We're looking for organizations or agencies who want to participate in preparing Contra Costa for a health emergency by planning and conducting an emergency drill or exercise," said Anthony Semenza, Executive Director of CAER. "Preparedness is essential to reduce the health impacts of such an event."
