An East Bay county will alert families about violence found everyday in homes, schools and neighborhoods.

Contra Costa Health Services and Contra Costa Television have produced ¡Vida Sana en Vivo!, a 30-minute Spanish language talk show that will focus on violence. The show will discuss domestic violence, bullying, youth violence and international terrorism.Vida Sana's Violence show is schedule to debut April 15 at 3:30 p.m. and will replay on April 16 and 23 at 5 p.m. and April 22 at 3:30 p.m. Guests on the show will be Andres Soto, Policy Director of the Trauma Foundation, and Miriam Wong, Executive Director of The Latina Center.

"We can find violence and terror at all levels of society. We've heard a lot about international violence and terror but not as much about the violence that we encounter daily. People need to know these other types of violence and terror exist and are very real. We want families to be able to recognize these forms of violence and to know where to seek help," said Erika Jenssen, Health Emergency Coordinator for Contra Costa Health Services.

According to Jenssen, the show will provide information to help viewers identify domestic violence, youth violence and bullying and show them where they can receive help.

"Bullies, terrorists and batterers share a common condition which is the willingness to use violence or the threat of violence to scare others in order to get what they want. If we address these problems early we can save lives and reduce suffering," said Jenssen.

¡Vida Sana en Vivo! can be seen on Contra Costa Television, the county's public access cable TV station on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. and Fridays at 5 p.m. (In the Danville/Blackhawk area, channel 10; in Clayton and Concord, channel 15 and 18; in Oakley and Bethel Island, Martinez, Moraga, Orinda, Pacheco, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek, channel 19; in Antioch, Bay Point, Pittsburg, San Ramon, Concord, Crockett, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond, Rodeo, and San Pablo, channel 27.
