Three Adult Flu Clinics Announced

October 11, 2004

What

Contra Costa Health Services officials will present a request to the county Board of Supervisors to declare a local health emergency because of the acute shortage of adult flu vaccine.

When

The Board meeting begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 12.

Where

The meeting is in the Board chambers of 651 Pine Street in Martinez.

Why

"We do not have enough vaccine to adequately protect the residents of Contra Costa County," said Dr. Wendel Brunner, Director of Public Health for Contra Costa County. "With the declaration of an emergency, we can bring sufficient attention to the challenge we face: careful utilization of the limited doses of vaccine to help keep people healthy and alive this winter."

How

To get more information about Contra Costa Health Services' flu prevention activities, call the CCHS Communicable Disease Programs at 925-313-6740.
