What

A videotaped health emergency announcement by Dr. William Walker, director of Contra Costa Health Services, about the flu vaccine shortage and how to avoid the flu.

Where

The announcement is being broadcast on Contra Costa Television (CCTV), the county TV station. CCTV is Channel 27 on all cable systems except for Comcast subscribers in Walnut Creek, who watch on Channel 19, and Astound Cable subscribers who can watch on Channel 32.

When

The announcement will run frequently on CCTV most hours, generally at the beginning of the hour.

Why

"One thing all of us can do right now during the is shortage is to take care of our physical health," says Dr. Walker in the announcement, which features flu prevention tips and the Center for Disease Prevention and Control's list of "high risk" groups who will receive any available vaccine. "The county health department is hoping to receive additional flu vaccine for adults," he continues. Speaking of the children's vaccine, which is different than the adult one, he says, "We are expecting to get enough flu vaccine to take care of high-risk children."
